Hi, guys —
- Who is the bishop who always stands beside and assists the Pope during any service?
He is really tall, skinny, white, and he wears glasses. I have been trying to find out for a long time. I read that a bishop that accompanies another bishop is called a coadjutor bishop.
If you want to see him, watch any YouTube video of the Pope such as:
- the Consistory
- the ceremony when the Pope bestows the Pallium
- the Christmas Mass or
- Good Friday Mass.
He stands literally right beside him on his left hand side. He also stood beside Benedict too.

Mike replied:
Hi Bishoy,
His name is Monsignor Guido Marini.
His Predecessor was Archbishop Piero Marini. (no relationship.)
Along with the Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, Monsignor Marini, Pope Francis, whose native language is Spanish, also has a personal translator, Monsignor Mark Miles. Monsignor Miles is part of the Vatican Communications team that travels with Pope Francis.

RE: Pope Francis' visit.
I know who Guido Marini is but who is the priest who stands on his right and has same robes at Monsignor Marini. He has short grey hair.
Thank you,
Maria

Mike replied:
Hi Maria,
I have no idea. The only other person who is visibly close to the Holy Father is Monsignor Mark Miles, his personal translator, but he obviously does not have short grey hair.
Sorry.
