Leigh,
Scripture seems to indicate all the first disciples of Christ continued to celebrate the Sabbath of Saturday and the Resurrection of Jesus on Sunday.
Eventually, the authority of the Church rendered the first (the Sabbath of Saturday) as unnecessary, and in essence recognized the Sabbath had indeed been changed to Sunday by virtue of Christ being the first fruits of the new creation.
So, before Christ, Saturday was the Sabbath because creation ended on the seventh day but with Christ the renewal of creation begins on Sunday, which can be considered the eighth day, beginning something totally new, of which we are destined to fully share in with our own resurrection.
Peace,
Paul
