Hi, guys —

I'm a 76 year old man, living alone with no family in this country. I understand that Pope Francis has decreed that cremated remains (ashes) are not to be scattered.

Well, I have paid for my cremation which does not include the burial of the ashes. I just have applied £10,000 in insurance policies which will be paid out after my death. l have willed these to my best friend and my other best friend and his wife who are living on a shoestring.

If I were to arrange a burial of ashes for myself, it would mean the purchase of a burial plot that would never be used again.

  • I would like to know where I stand regarding the Catholic Church and if it is a mortal sin to scatter the ashes?
