Hi, guys —
I would like to know more information about the Green Scapular.
Let's say I decide to give ten Green Scapulars to ten of my relatives and one for me.
- Do I have to say eleven separate Immaculate heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen. prayers everyday or is just one Green Scapular prayer enough every day for all eleven individuals?
- Plus, if I have a Green Scapular and want the promises associated with the Green Scapular but have no one to pray the Green Scapular prayer for me, will I still receive the promises if I pray it for myself?
- Is saying Amen after the Immaculate heart of Mary . . . Green Scapular prayer necessary?
Thank you in advance. Knowing the answer to these questions can help me better understand more about the Green Scapular and will help me correctly apply the promises associated with the Green Scapular.

Dear Dave,
This is a common question; it's even in our searchable knowledge base:
https://www.AskACatholic.com/SiteSearch
There are a lot of quick answers there, so give it a try.
I searched the knowledge base for you and found these web postings that may help. The first posting should answer your first question.

Yes!

Jimmy Akin on his website states:
The Catechism of the Catholic Church offers a brief explanation of the meaning of the word at the end of its section on the Lord's Prayer, where it quotes Cyril of Jerusalem:
“Then, after the prayer is over you say ‘Amen,' which means ‘So be it,' thus ratifying with our ‘Amen' what is contained in the prayer that God has taught us” [CCC 2856]. |
So Yes!
I hope this helps,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your answer on the Green Scapular.
I recently bought four Saint Joseph's cords from sacramentals.org. I am planning on getting them blessed but the blessing seems like it should be done for each cord separately.
- Is it okay if I get all of them blessed by just one blessing?
Plus, the blessing that comes with the Saint Joseph's cord purchased from sacramentals.org is the shorter blessing from the longer version which can be found here:
[Website hidden.]
- Will I still get the graces attached with the Saint Joseph's cord if I get it blessed with the shorter version?
Thank you and God bless you.

Mike replied:
Dear Dave,
One blessing is enough for all St. Joseph cords you have.
God is working through the priest and can bestow an abundance of graces on as many devotionals you have.
As a side note: although Catholic Culture (catholicculture.org) no longer does website reviews, I remember that they had a concern about the [Website hidden.] website probably because they take a strong preference to the Extraordinary form of the Mass while questioning the validity of the Ordinary or Novus Ordo form of the Mass.
Personally, I would stay away from that website as a good source for Catholic information.
