Good afternoon!

I am a student at Grand Canyon University and I am working on a class assignment that asks the students to interview a leader/minister of a different Christian denomination than our own. Due to the reality of the global pandemic we're experiencing, it has been difficult to find help locally.

My grandmother was active in the Catholic Church but passed away when I was about 11 years old and even before this assignment, I have had questions about Catholicism. I was searching for the right place to ask these questions and stumbled upon this website.

I know that you would prefer for anyone asking questions to limit the quantity to 4-5 questions, but I am required to ask between 10-15 questions. I have prepared 12 to ask.

Although this exceeds the preferred quantity of the typical Q&A on this site, if you are willing to answer and educate me on the questions I have prepared, it would help me complete this assignment and I would be very appreciative and grateful for your help and insight.

Please let me know if you are willing to help out!

Either way, I appreciate you taking the time to read my post here.

Blessings,

Michael

  { Can you answer questions on your faith for an project where I have to interview a leader/minister? }

Eric replied:

Michael,

I'm not sure we qualified as leaders or ministers.

None of us are priests (or bishops), which would ordinarily be what someone would have in mind as a (leader/minister) in the Catholic Church. But we'd be happy to answer your questions for your own personal edification.

Eric

Mike replied:

Dear Michael,

First, let me make a small correction. You said:
. . . I am working on a class assignment that asks the students to interview a leader/minister of a different Christian denomination than our own.

The Catholic Church is not a denomination of Christianity. The word denomination means it is part of a whole. The Catholic Church is not part of a whole; She is the whole, total, complete faith Jesus left us before He gloriously ascended into Heaven. The word Catholic means two things:

  1. universal, and
  2. in its totality

So the Catholic faith is the Christian faith (in its totality; it's not a part of Christianity)

In addition to what my colleague told you, you may want to check out the Similar Issues . . . page.

On the AskUs a question page, it does state that we don't answer questions for quizzes, tests, or research papers but in this portion of our site, we make an exception. Just go to:

It probably has many of the questions you have.

Mike
