Hi, guys —

  • What options does one have if a priest fails to come, or send a representative, to preside over the burial ceremony of a baptized Catholic Christian?

Bob replied:

Dear Peter,

Thanks for the question.

If circumstances necessitate, get an ordained minister to bless the place of internment post facto.  You can say prayers for the dead, and the Lay parts of the Rite of Commitment in the immediate time frame.  You just have to wing it a little, God will honor your efforts and you need not fear.

Peter replied:

Thanks, Bob —
