Respected,
- I would like to ask whether my Confession is valid and OK if I've been confessing my sins in a general form like so:
"lying, sloth, pride," etc.,
rather than
"I lied, I was lazy, I was arrogant, etc."
─ since it's obvious that the enumerated sins are mine and not someone else's?
I used to confess my sins like this and always received absolution from a priest, but I have wondered if this is valid.

Bob replied:
Dear friend,
Thanks for the question.
If the priest needed to know more, he would ask you. The Confession is valid unless you deliberately withhold serious sin. You are trying to put a better light on the sin, but no amount of euphemistic color changes the fundamental nature of the offense, and the priest knows that and has literally heard it all.
Just say the facts and get over the shame of embarrassment of it, and you'll actually feel much better after your Confession.
Peace,
