Hi, guys —
Here in the Philippines, cremation is now
becoming a common alternative for interment.
I know that even if the body of the deceased
is cremated, the ashes in the urn must be
placed in an ossuary or niche.
One time I went to visit a friend's place
and discovered the ashes of his grandmother, who died and was cremated
three years ago,
were just placed in the cabinet where books
on the shelves were kept.
My questions:
- Can the ashes be kept in the home for
as long as those left behind want them
there?
- Where is the proper place for the ashes?
- What are the guidelines of the Church
on this?
