Hi, guys —

Hello and Happy Easter!

My name is Doyle Baxter. I am a freshman at Zionsville Community High School in Zionsville, Indiana. I am an active member at my parish of St. Alphonsus Ligouri. It would be safe to say I am mature in my faith, I pray morning and evening prayer nearly every day and attend daily Mass at least twice a week.

My question however is not on Church doctrine, but on history. I will be going through Confirmation soon, and I believe the Holy Spirit has identified who He wants me to choose for my patron Saint: — Pope St. Pontian. He reigned as pope from about 230 A.D. - 235 A.D.

I have only been able to find marginal information on his life and pontificate. Any information you could provide would be wonderful.

Thanks and God Bless!

Doyle M. Baxter

Hi, Doyle —

Wow! I admire your devotion to the Lord, especially at such a young age. If all Catholic freshmen were praying and attending Mass more often (than Sunday), then our world would be a much better, holier place.
