Hi guys,
My question is in regards the Church and slavery. The
accusation that the Church supported slavery is a common
perception and, more often than not, a wrong one.
Being a Catholic who likes to be informed, I did already
some research on my own, using useful web sites like www.NewAdvent.com,
so I know that throughout history the Church has often
been against slavery and promoted human rights, although
in a different way than modern social (and political) movements.
- Do you have any extra resources where I can find exactly
the relationship throughout history between: i.) the Church, ii.) slavery, and iii.) human rights preferably from the first century until now?
Thank you for your answers.
Francesco
