Dear AskACatholic.com,

  • How can I prove that Catholicism is Christian?

I often find myself in a discussion about how Catholicism is not Christian which, quite honestly, might be the stupidest thing I have hear these days. Please help me prove this to others, though the answer is quite obvious to me.

Another question I have is this issue of 2012.

Many people say the world is ending.  Again, probably the dumbest things I hear these days and
I always argue that God and only God knows when the world will end, but they still don't believe me.

  • What can I say to these ignorant souls that believe an ancient civilization that died out about 500 years ago is right?

Thank you very much. I appreciate all the site has done for me in the past.

Thanks again,

Dom

Hi, Dom —

Great to hear back from you!

By reading and studying up on the Early Church Fathers and historical quotes from people like St. Pacian of Barcelona, (c.310-375 A.D.), bishop of Barcelona. See the home page of this site for his famous quote.

The best source I have found is this one:

Pricey for the 3 Volume set, but in my opinion: Worth Every Page!

If they do not wish to follow the Words of Our Savior Himself, you can say nothing.

42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:42-44)

Many wish to think they are the current day Nostradamus. (A person who foretells, with amazement, events of the future.) Don't waste your time with them, unless they can prove their divinity : ) LOL

Thank-you for the kind words about our site.  I'm blessed to have a strong team of Catholic apologists.

Mike
