Dear Brett,
You may become Catholic, with or
without your wife, and it might not
be necessary to be
re-baptized. If the minister of your
former church poured water or immersed
the person, and used the Trinitarian
formula, as cited by Jesus at the
end of Matthew's gospel (Matthew 28:16-20), it is probably
a valid Baptism.
What you would need to do is receive
instruction through what is usually
called a RCIA (Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults) program, then
receive Confirmation and the Eucharist
to be initiated into the Catholic
Church.
Please contact the pastor of the
nearest Catholic parish of your choosing
to discuss all of these issues and, in advance: Welcome! to God's Church which Jesus Christ:
- founded, and
- works through
for the sake of our salvation.
Paul
