Hi, guys —

My daughter and I are very interested in the Catholic Church. If someone could please tell me what I need to do to get started on this journey it would be greatly appreciated.

I was baptized in the LDS (Latter Day Saints) [Mormon] church and felt it was never for me.
The principles did not go with my beliefs. I have since left that church and am seeking another.

I have thought about the Catholic faith since I was a teenager and I have a strong desire to learn more. It just feels right. I do not know how to go about this process so any, and all, help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Donna

Hi Donna,

Thanks for the question.

Basically, just make an appointment at your local Catholic parish with the pastor or a priest.
Try to find a parish that has a lot of ministries you can choose from and that is faithful to the Church's teachings. Most of the time this isn't a problem and . . . Welcome to the family!

If the parish has a focus on Our Blessed Mother, the Eucharist, and the Holy Father you have a good parish life.

We have an FAQ section that deals with your exact question, and related issues, like marriage issues, here:

I used to run a free program that sent Catechisms to seeking Protestants and non-Christians but no longer have the financial or operational means to do this anymore.

If you wish to go deeper, consider buying a cheap copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to learn everything we believe as Catholics.
