Judith Jones wrote:

Hi, guys —

I am pre-diagnosis male to female transgender person.

I was once told by someone that I'm trapped in the wrong-gendered body because I'm being punished for something I did in a past life. It has really put me in a depressed mood.

A close friend told me that was stupid and that Jesus would've encountered transgender people when he was alive and may have even helped them be themselves.

  • Was my friend correct?

Mike replied:

Dear Judith,

Your friend is wrong. There is no such thing as past lives; there is one life after which we pass on to eternal life.

They are correct, Jesus did meet many people with various ailments. That said, don't be depressed. God/Jesus loves you more than you can imagine. Even when we struggle with sin, He still loves us, so do the best you can.

I have no idea where you are spiritually, but I would recommend you make an appointment with a Catholic priest to get some advice. Even if you are not Catholic, I'm sure he may be able to provide some time and, if not, refer you to a counselor who can address the issues you have.

For short: Keep your head up high and know Jesus loves you immensely and when you suffer: joining your sufferings to His, can bring in big blessings for you.

Mike

Paul replied:

Dear Judith,

Along with what Mike said, I would add that you are not a person trapped in the wrong body. We cannot be essentially different than our bodies.

The notion of transgender is a flawed one, inasmuch as God does not make the body and soul differently. Therefore, it is impossible to be in a wrong body, for the body is the physical manifestation of the person. Pray that God gives you the grace to love your body and yourself the way He made you.

You are wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Peace,

Paul
