Hi, guys —
These are the Bible passages from Genesis 6:1-3. Here humans are categorized into sons of God and sons of men.
The Wickedness of Humankind
6 1 When people began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that they were fair; and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, “My spirit shall not abide in mortals forever, for they are flesh; their days shall be one hundred twenty years.”
Genesis 6:1-3 |
- Didn't God created humans equally or were they categorized as mentioned above?
- In the time of Noah didn't all people on Earth have one God?
- If God categorized humans into sons of God and sons of men, what is the reasoning behind it?
Also,
- In Genesis 4:17 it mentions Cain got a wife . . . from where?
Beginnings of Civilization
17 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch; and he built a city, and named it Enoch after his son Enoch.
Genesis 4:17 |
- Did God create another woman just like Eve to give Cain a wife?
- Otherwise where did the wife of Cain come from?
Then there only exists Adam, Eve and Cain.

Paul replied:
Dear Jess,
As for the Niphilim of Genesis, Chapter 6, biblical theologians have interpreted that story in different ways, some more symbolically than others. The Church has never defined exactly what it means. While some see the sons of God as meaning angels who miraculously impregnate human women, others see it as meaning men of the Covenant, and daughters of men being daughters of pagan peoples. It was very important that the Israelites not intermarry during this time period of God weaning them off pagan gods and idolatry.
Genesis Chapters 1-11 are what are called the prehistorical stories, and were never meant to be taken too literally. The symbolic and religious truths they communicate are very valuable for our salvation.
Peace,
Paul
