Bob replied:

Dear Christian

Thanks for writing.

I know that this is a completely unprecedented time in the history of the world, where every nation seems to be affected, economies are faltering, people suffer terribly, death is a reality and is a threat to anyone who has weak health. We have seen all these things before, but never quite so universally. That being said, it could be worse and still can get worse.

It is of my opinion that the world is being given an immense grace to stop and correct itself: to redirect itself toward God. God is allowing this to happen because the world, the Church, everybody has been off-track for quite some time and the sins of mankind are beyond tolerable.

The churches are closed in so much of the world and people do not have access to the Sacraments. This also is unprecedented. Right now, I think it is best if we connect with our parish priests to let them know that we need access to the Sacraments, especially Confession.

Sadly, I don't think the Pope is doing much to improve the situation. We need to pray for the Pope. I am not impressed with the leadership the Pope is providing at this time, because I believe there needs to be a greater call to repentance, and this Pope has not done so at all.

Our Lady of Fatima warned us that mankind would suffer chastisements and this could be one of those moments. The main thing chastisements do is call us to repentance. That is what needs to happen at every level of the Church and society.

So, pray, do acts of penance, and make sure your life is good with God. This time is a blessing where we can put these priorities back in place.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but today we have the opportunity.

Peace,

Bob Kirby
