Hello everyone!
I am trying my best to be an apologist. I love defending the faith and knowing the answers to all sorts of questions. I consider myself a traditional Catholic. However, I enjoy looking at arguments from the other side to further improve my arguments. One of these sides is the side of trans Catholics. I look at their arguments and usually find a rebuttal, but I struggle with just one sentence:
"God made me trans."

Eric replied:
Madeline,
I'd ask for specific evidence that "God made them that way". Just because they have the feeling doesn't mean God created them that way. Many people have inclinations and struggles, whether it's with alcoholism or anger or lust or mental illness, some of which are biological or genetic in origin, that are particular to them, but it doesn't mean that they should indulge those inclinations or reinforce them.
- Should someone born with a disease celebrate having the disease and identify with it, or should they try to get healing from the disease?
- Should someone with mental illness get treatment for it, or just conclude God made them that way and be satisfied with that?
- Should an alcoholic say "God made me this way" and drink to his hearts content?
Just because we have strong inclinations doesn't mean those inclination are good and wholesome for us and given to us by God.

It's about being gay but analogous arguments can apply.

Paul replied:
Madeline,
If their argument is correct, then adulterers, fornicators, gluttons, and even pedophiliacs can say "God made me that way." One thing we must understand: God made humanity in perfect order and health. The effect of original sin, passed down to everyone, creates an imbalance in each person in different ways. Don't blame God for these imperfections and unnatural inclinations, blame sin.
Peace,
Paul
