Hi, guys —

  • Is it licit for me to pray a pre-1911 Divine Office?

I understand that His Holiness Saint Pius X abrogated the ability of the former psalter arrangement to fulfill the requirements of those who are bound to pray the office however, I have no such obligation as I am not a priest.

I am not officially a Catholic yet, at least for the foreseeable future.

  • I was wondering if it would be allowed for a layman to pray according to the older standards?

Gavin —

You are free to pray however you wish privately!

Gavin replied:

Eric,

Thank you!

I currently have the free time to and I wish to find some way to honor God until I can convert.

Pax tecum.

Gavin
