It wasn't the first Bible, but it was the first printed Bible.

We have handwritten Bibles before then that go back to the fourth century or earlier, but the shift from scrolls to the codex (i.e., what you and I know as a bound "book") occurred around the second and third centuries A.D., and Christians were the earliest adopters.
