Hi, guys —

  • If Lent is officially over on Holy Thursday and you have given up drinking soda, can you drink soda on Good Friday?

Eric replied:

Hi Diane,

It is up to you since no Church law says you have to give anything up for Lent, but traditionally the Triduum is an even more intense period of prayer and fasting than is Lent.

The Church has never lifted its fasting and abstinence discipline for the Triduum so I would recommend sticking with it; then Easter will be all the more sweeter.

Hope this helps,

Eric Ewanco
