Hi guys,
Let me start with some background information:
My name is Abraham Paskarela and I am from Indonesia. The name Paskarela is taken from Easter.
(In Indonesian, Easter is paskah.)
I am a Catholic from birth but during my childhood
I sometimes
went to other Christian churches. That's why I have various
view of Christianity.
I am learning less about Buddhism, Islam [being Muslim], and
Hinduism. It's usually just casual reading to understanding
what they believe. I am 28 and like to read religious literature.
Let my preface my question as follows. At the time Jesus was born, there were angels that came to
the shepherds. The angel told them to: follow the east
star, and you'll find an East King etc.,
but the east star has the same meaning as the morning, or day
star and in Latin, morning star spells lucifer. Son of day
light is also connected to the morning star according to Isaiah
14:12.
My questions are:
- How many Gods are there?
- Who is born as a human, in Jesus?
Thanks! I really need the answers.
God Bless,
Abraham

How many Gods are there and if the morning star spells lucifer what does that say about Jesus? }

Hi Abraham,
You wrote:

Whoa, whoa, whoa, let's get our Scripture straight. Let's look at Matthew
2:
"After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of
King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where
is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the
east and have come to worship him."
Matthew 2:1-2
So first of all, the reference is to Magi, not shepherds, and it is to his
star in the east, not to the east star.

The star could be any star in the eastern region of the sky, not necessarily
the morning star.
You wrote:
There are three Persons in One God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the
Trinity — one in substance and undivided. These three persons are one, in
essence (i.e. they share the same being) but constitute one
God.
You wrote:

If I understand your question correctly, it was the Second Person of the
Trinity, the Son or God, the Word, who was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem
and named Jesus. Jesus was a Divine Person with both a human and a divine
nature, completely united without mixture. Thus, Jesus was fully human
and fully divine from the moment of his conception.
Hope this helps!

Bob replied:
Dear Abraham,
First, your study of the words related to star and Lucifer is not directly related
to your two questions:
- Do you have a question related to that?
Here are some brief
answers for your other questions.
You wrote:
The Catholic Faith holds only one God. The One God is Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. This mystery of the Trinity is essentially 3 in 1; three
persons, one nature.
You wrote:
- Who is born as a human, in Jesus?
Jesus is God, born as a man. He has both human and Divine natures,
thus he is fully God and fully Human. While Jesus:
- is human,
- has a human
will and soul, and
- everything that you and I have . . .
We speak
of him as a Divine person. He is God in every sense as well.
This is a mystery we call the Incarnation.
Both these facets of Christianity are cornerstones of our beliefs. There
is much written about them over the course of many centuries.
For a good
summary of these doctrines I would recommend the Catholic Catechism. Too
brief an answer will undoubtedly lead to more questions.
Good luck.
Peace,

Abraham,
The Magi saw the star at its rising. All
stars appear to rise, except the pole star, and all of them appear to
rise in the east.
The morning star is not the only star that rises in
the east. It is the one that appears just before the sun rises in the
morning.
It can be any one of three planets (Jupiter, Mars, or Venus),
and its name: Day Star is not the same as Lucifer (Light bearer) though
it means something similar.

Thank-you all for taking the time to answer my questions.
I have one more question:
- Has the [name of the east star or son of day light] been given to Jesus for
its excellency or was it stolen or taken only for its excellency?
God Bless you.
Regards,
Abraham

Eric replied:
Hi Abraham,
I'm not sure it's so much a matter of a name being given to
Jesus, for a particular reason, as it is a matter of Jesus being compared
to the day star as the star that serves as the forerunner of the dawn:
the dawn symbolizing the fullness of salvation and dispelling of the darkness
of sin.

Mary Ann replied:
Abraham,
The Scripture actually says, Before the day star, I have begotten
you — and the Church has understood that to refer to Christ,
in symbol, so Christ is not the day star.
As a matter of fact, Morning Star is
a title given to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, because she appears as the
harbinger of the Son who is like the Sun.
