Hi Karen,

Yes!, the person is free to receive Holy Communion so long as the person is simply divorced and not re-married.

If the person is re-married without a proper annulment, (assuming it has been granted), the person is living in state of adultery, which, like any other serious or mortal sin, precludes us from receiving Communion.
