Wondering Will wrote:

Hi, guys —

I have three questions:

  1. How can we fight against anti-Christians/non-Christians, who attack us?

Some people say that The Great Flood of Noah's time never happened.

  1. How can I respond to these people?

What about people who have died in a car accident or people who have been murdered?

  1. I'm not saying I don't believe or anything, but why didn't God do anything to save them?

Dear Will —

Our [primary/initial] weapon should be a daily prayer life, especially praying the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  • Why?

Because:

  • prayer molds our hearts and the hearts of others we pray for.
  • we are called, by Our Lord, Himself, to pray for our enemies. (Matthew 5:44)

Sometime people hate and attack others, because they believe those other people stand for something they really don't believe in. For this reason, communication is key to an understanding between warring parties.

There are still others, who will not listen, nor wish to dialogue in peace, but just attack us.

In these situations, the Christian is obligated to defend himself and put up defenses that will protect [him/her] and their family from terrorists. This is why it is important that the current White House keep the strong defensive measures that were established under the Reagan and George W. Bush administrations. That's not being partisan, that's just using my God-given brain to act on measures that will protect me and my God-given Catholic family.

By ignoring them. Many people in life will try to bring you into debating dialogue, not because they believe in what they are saying, but because, they want to believe in what they are saying.

There will always be atheistic, doubting Thomas's who defend the secular values of an anti-Christian culture for their own self-pleasure whether they are defending their wealth or other material goods. The natural law (that which tells a person something is good or bad, without having someone else tell them.) which discerns good from bad, informs them that their positions are untenable.

Honestly, none of us can answer that question. What we do know is:

God created everyone for a specific purpose in life and when a tragic accident happens to an apparently very good person:

We don't know:

  • the whole background of the person
  • nor the family environment they were in.
  • nor the prior choices and future choices [he/she] would have made (Though God does.)

We do know:

  • that the Lord would only take someone to the Next Life at the best time in that person's life here on Earth. He wants what is best for us!

He is a loving but merciful God. The rest is a mystery!

Hope this helps,

Mike

Mary Ann replied:

Will,

We must all die of something. God does not will evil, but He honors our free will.

God did become a man and die to save us from eternal death.

Mary Ann
