Janet. G. wrote:

Hi, guys —

My best friend is separated from her husband after an 18-year marriage. She feels like she has missed out on the dating scene. She told me she is not going to sleep with anyone because she is married and, currently, just has to find herself. She said that she likes all the attention she's getting at the bar. She is 38 years old.

I have been trying to talk to her and send her (and her husband) Scripture passages every morning to tie them together. Hopefully, one of the passages will finally make her realize that the right choice is to be with her husband and three kids.

She is also hanging out with a girl that only wants her as a party buddy.

  • Could you please send me some Scripture passages for her that would help in keeping the temptation away from her?

I know that prayer helps and I truly believe things happen for a reason but the person I knew years ago, is not the person I know now.

I miss my old, best friend.

Please help me.

Janet

Mike replied:

Hi, Janet —

My Scripture web page may be of help, but prayer is the main weapon you should be using.

I have created an easy to remember short cut that you can pass on to family and friends:

A list of Catholic Scripture verses that defend Catholic doctrines.

In this situation, you have to respect your best friend's choices even though, at times,
you may not totally agree with them. It's her free will, not yours.

Sometimes the best we can do, is place our prayers in the Hands of the Father and His Son, Jesus.

As you alluded to, there is never anything that the Lord permits, that a greater good can't be pulled out of.

Be a prayer warrior for her; pray the Rosary regularly!

Hope this helps,

Mike
