Hello,
I would like to know if a Catholic can have
a Mass offered for a non-Catholic.
- How can I help a deceased non-Catholic's
soul if they did not attend any church
or possibly did not believe in Christ?
- Is there any hope for them — Can
I help to save their souls?
- Finally, I would like to know if a miscarried
baby has a soul and, if so, what steps
do I take to pray for my lost child?
Thanking you in advance and God Bless,

Valerie —
A Mass may be offered for anyone.
As for saving a person's soul, that
is decided by a person during his
lifetime and at the moment of death.
Mass may be offered for the living,
and the grace will benefit that person.
Mass can help a deceased person who
is in a state of purification, but
not one who is damned.
We don't know who, if anyone, is
damned, so it is good to offer Mass
for anyone.

Hi, Valerie —
A miscarried baby indeed has a soul.
There is no special prayer for a
miscarried child.
You can:
- pray in your own words for the
salvation of the child
- you can pray an Our Father and
a Hail Mary
- you can pray a Rosary, or
- you can have a Mass offered.
