Hi, guys —
I've come into possession of an old Communion
set from a deceased priest's estate.
There
are three Hosts inside and I would cautiously
assume that they have been consecrated and
are truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity
of Christ.
What is the proper way to dispose of these?

Hi, Deloris —
The Church teaches that the Real
Presence remains so long as the
accidents remains. If they have started
to mold, then the mold is not Jesus.
What remains unaffected
by the mold
is probably not safe to
eat.
If they still appear to be bread (that is the
accident remains) and
they are not moldy, and then you should
consume them.
If not, you can bury
or burn them.

Hi, Deloris —
It is doubtful that they are consecrated.
They are probably there to provide
hosts to consecrate in Mass. No priest
worth his salt would store consecrated
hosts this way.
Consuming them, if
they aren't distasteful, is your
best option. Otherwise you could
dissolve them in water over time
and pour the water into the ground.
