Hello,
I am a Seventh Day Adventist and I truly believe in my
denomination. I have family members who are Catholic but
they cannot answer my questions about their faith so I
am asking you for help:
- Why are babies baptized?
(Remember, Jesus never baptized
babies. He baptized people who were sensible enough to
know right from wrong and who were able to choose whether
they wanted to be in a religious denomination.)
- Why do Catholics believe in the Virgin Mary?
(I really
can't recall any passage from the Bible saying to worship
a human being, like the Virgin Mary. As I recall, God
is our only Savior.)
- How is the Pope, Christ on earth?
(God left the Holy
Spirit to comfort us and to be by our side every step
of the way. He did not assign a man to represent
Christ on earth. No man is pure and without sin except
Christ.)

Brittney —
- Jesus didn't baptize into any denomination.
He either baptized with a baptism of repentance
or into Himself. The Scripture is not clear which
kind of baptism He performed. His disciples were
told to baptize in the name of the Trinity, and
to teach in His Name. From the beginning, they
baptized whole families, with children. (1 Corinthians 1:16)
- As for children, He did everything else for
children, so why not Baptism?
Since the Apostles
baptized children and they followed His teaching (not all of which is in Scripture, as Scripture
makes clear) John 21:24-25, it must have been by His Will. In
any case, He said that they acted and spoke in
His name so their baptizing children is enough
for me.
- Catholics do not worship the Virgin Mary. We
honor her. You honor your mother. Christ's mother
is worthy of great honor, as she is full of grace (Luke
1:28) according to the Scriptures, and she is the
model Christian, the first and best disciple.
- The Pope is not Christ on earth. He stands in
his place as a center of unity and teaching.
He is human and prone to sin like all men, but
he has a special gift of the Spirit as promised
by Christ in Matthew 16:13-20 and Luke 22:32.
