Hi, guys —
In Mark 13:21, 32, Jesus speaks about the end
of the world and states that only the Father
knows when this will happen. If Jesus and the Father
are one, that means Jesus is God.
- In that case, why doesn't He have this
knowledge?
Great web site! Keep up the good work.
God bless,

If
Jesus is God, why didn't He have the knowledge
of God the Father, as to when the End is? }

Hi, Brian —
When the Eternal Word united Himself
to man through the Incarnation, He
took on the limitations of a man.
For example, Jesus as a baby, did
not come out of the womb speaking,
so it would seem that this was a
self-imposed limitation. It is a
bit difficult to wrap your head around
these matters.
They are mysteries
and we will never quite be able to
fully understand them; at least not
in this life.

Brian —
The day, as the Catechism says, is
suspended, and its coming is at the
initiative of the Father.
The Son
does what the Father wills. The phrase
could be referring to that sort of
knowledge, (knowledge in Hebrew
means experiential control,
so it would mean the power to decide), or
it could be that the knowledge does
not belong to Christ in His human
nature, but is something received
from the Father.
Beyond that, and
we are getting into the mystery of
the Trinity.
