Agonizing Agnes wrote:

Hi, guys —

  • Can you please tell me how to confess sex sins that are deadly?

I am old (46) and I am always letting people cross boundaries. I feel I may have committed a mortal sin because I feel so numb, immoral, and very tired. I feel like throwing up and I cry all the time.

I've told God horrible things like I don't want eternal life or Judgment Day. My life has been very painful and I am always afraid.

Maybe He did something to me. I wish God could tell you. I don't know.  I am so tired and have lost my faith. Maybe it's been too much.

Thank you so much,

Agnes

Mike replied:

Dear Agnes,

All of us, struggle with our faith at times. It's just part of being human, yet sometimes the Lord is testing us.

I don't want to seem to be dodging your question, but the best advice I can give is to make an appointment with a Catholic priest in your area who is known for his faithfulness to the Church.

He can hear your Confession and give you advice and counsel.

That's where I would start. I would also encourage you to pray the Rosary. Ask the priest at the rectory for one.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

Mike

John replied:

Agnes,

Just to add to Mike's answer. Even though it seems like this sin is getting the better of you, it is important not to walk in self-condemnation. Yes, you should feel contrition and sorrow for your sin, but don't let the devil make it worse, by listening to his accusing lies.

Go to Confession as Mike said and when the priest absolves you, walk out of there with your head held up high, not in pride, but in forgiveness.

If you fall again, no matter how soon after Confession, get up and repent again.

Jesus died for every sin you would ever commit. There is no sin that He won't forgive except for the sin of not wanting His forgiveness.

God Bless,

John
