Hi, guys —
I was discussing my Catholic faith with someone,
and he asked me:
- Why do we have to pray the Our Father,
ten Hail Mary's, and a Glory Be?
- Why are those prayers in the Rosary?
- What made the people who suggested doing
the Rosary pick those prayers and the number
of times we say each of them?
- Isn't the reason we pray the Rosary
to ask Mary to pray for us?

Hi, Marcus —
The purpose of the Rosary is not
to ask Mary to pray for us, but to
meditate with her on the Works of
God which are recalled in the mysteries,
to praise God, and to ask her intercession.
The Rosary began as Our Fathers only.
150 for the 150 Psalms were added later, and it
gradually evolved to the way we say
it now.
