Hi, Judy —
Thanks for the question.
If you feel your spiritual needs
are not being met at your local parish,
then most definitely,
you should seek out another parish
to see if another parish can better
meet your spiritual needs.
If you disagree with your local church
on a matter that is related to the
doctrine of the
Catholic Church, then prayer and
striving to understand the Teaching
of the Church is required.
The Catechism
of the Catholic Church should
be helpful or after
searching our knowledge base,
you can ask us.
In one situation, we are dealing
with issues like:
- local customs or practices
- quality of the preaching
- poor pastoral leadership
- lack of activities in the parish
- lack of enthusiasm in the parish
- faithful in the parish that
are centered more on serving themselves
(with an attitude of: they own this ministry),
then serving Christ in others.
In the other situations, we are dealing
with teachings that can't change because the Holy Spirit protects
and safeguards these teachings, like:
- the Real Presence of Jesus in
the Eucharist
- the Primacy of St. Peter in
the Holy Father, the Pope
- the reality of Purgatory and
the
Holy Souls in Purgatory longing for our help.
- the Sacraments of the Church
- the option of praying to Mary
and the saints
- the ministerial male priesthood
- official disciplines of the
Universal Church: e.g. in the
Latin Church: a celibate priesthood
Hope this helps,
Mike

Bob replied:
Judy,
I assume you are Catholic, you don't
like one particular parish, and would
like to go to another.
That is fine, but I hope you might
look at the underlying issue and
try to address that directly.
If it is simply a personality that
turns you off . . . so be it.
Peace,
Bob Kirby
