Mary Ann replied:

Sunday is the Lord's Day, the first day of the new creation, of the eternal Sabbath that the Jewish Sabbath prefigured.
Christ rose from the dead on the first day of the week, and the Church met to celebrate
His Resurrection on Sunday. The Apostles made Sunday the principal day of celebration for Jesus' Resurrection.
Once they were expelled from the synagogues, and the Temple was destroyed, they no longer kept the Sabbath by going to either place.
