Hi, guys —

I feel that I am being called to become a Catholic nun but I am not even religious.

  • What is happening to me?

Anna

  { What should I do if I'm not even a religious person yet feel the call to become a Catholic nun? }

Mike replied:

Dear Anna,

Thank-you for the question.

As Catholics, we call this, "a calling of the Holy Spirit". The Spirit can call anyone, of no faith or any faith, at any time in a person's life.

Following this call, over time, is following God's will. Nevertheless, the choice is yours.

Personally, I would recommend making an appointment with either a priest at a parish or someone at a convent or monastery, which ever one you feel comfortable with. Share with them your feelings and calling. They may have some great advice or be able to provide you with some helpful information!

Ask God to help you follow this new found calling. He'll be there to help you, if you ask Him.

If you wish to go deeper, consider buying a cheap copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to learn everything we believe as Catholics.

Mike
