Mike replied:

Hi Pauline,

Thanks for the good question.

The answer to both your questions is: Yes and Yes!

I run another web site with another Catholic colleague of mine, Brian Bagley:

Helpers of the Holy Souls.

Me and Brian think that the work of praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory has been overlooked for way too long.

For that reason we have developed a FREE Purgatory Prayer Program starter-kit for Catholics interested in praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Due to employment and finance reasons,
I can only send it to those living in the United States.

So far we have sent our program to over 30 states including to two priests. You can see the
whole list here.

For your free starter-kit, go to the web site address below and send me your postal address and a reliable e-mail where you can be reached.

Please don't ask for one if you don't think you will seriously use it, as least as a private devotional.

As a refresher and reminder of Catholic teaching, the Church teaches that those who die in a state of grace and who are saved by the Blood of Christ, yet still have some remaining impurities attached to their souls, undergo a process of purification toward 100% holiness and therefore union with God. (Revelation 21:27) St. Paul refers to this in 1 Corinthians 3:15 and the Old Testament assumes it in 2 Maccabees 12:38-46.

One can and should think of Purgatory, not as a third place beside Heaven and Hell, but as the Holy Hospital of Heaven.

I hope this helps,

Mike
