- Is there such a thing as an eight-decade Rosary?
I received a Rosary as a gift for Christmas but it has 8 decades of beads above the Cross,
the Our Father, 3 Hail Mary's, and the first mystery of beads. There is no medal prior to the decade of beads.
- Is this a real Rosary perhaps based on an early design, or created by a specific religious order?
The Cross is a Celtic Cross, if that makes any difference.
- If this is a Rosary modeled or based on a real Rosary, how is it actually used?

I was on eBay, and I saw a Rosary with 8 decades. No, this is not a modern Rosary, but older from the 19th or 18th century. At first I thought it was a incorrectly re-strung Rosary. Then when I was looking at the book Der Rosenkranz, a book about antique German Rosaries which I mentioned in earlier post. I saw a couple examples of documented 8 decade Rosaries.
None of these 8-decade Rosaries had a Cross or Crucifix at the end; they all had a reliquary or medal dedicated to a Saint and each example had a Credo Cross. I don't know what the 8-decade configuration could represent. My only thought is that it is a Franciscan Crown Rosary (traditionally 7 decades) with an extra decade dedicated to the Saint who is depicted on the end medallion.

After doing a little research, I found another possible answer.
It could be the Rosary of Guadeloupian Love which, as stated on the Knights of Columbus web page:
Is designed to connect the messages Our Lady of Guadalupe gave to St. Juan Diego with the seven sacraments of the Church and the Church as the sacrament of salvation.
