Hi, guys —
I have friends on Face book who have been making frequent posts showing their support for
gay marriage. One of the most common messages says something like this:
- "What's wrong with 2 people in love?" — referring to (2 men) or (2 women), of course.
They keep putting emphasis on being in love and that no one should tell them to stop being in love.
- Should I respond to this?
- And, if yes, how should I respond to them?
I don't know what to say.

How should I respond to these arguments against traditional marriage? }

Paul replied:
Dear Kat,
Do write to them if you feel inspired. Love is not something you are in, but rather something you do or will. A homosexual act is an abuse of self and other, and hence can never be an act of love. Love never abuses, regardless of how much of a disordered desire there is to do so.
The institution of Marriage is outgrowth of human nature in which members of the opposite sex come together in union as one flesh, and potentially create a third person.
People of the same sex can experience neither:
- the union (one-flesh) nor
- the procreation (three persons).

Hi, Kat —
In answering the following question, near the end, I gave the questioner some ways to respond.
I hope this helps,
