It sounds like you may be battling depression, for which you should seek professional help.

I assure you God has not abandoned you but you are unable to feel His love, especially in this frame of mind. Still, the fact that you have even reached out is a sign of His Work already in you.

There are steps you can do to begin healing with Gods help.

• First, pray.
• Receive the sacraments, especially Confession if you have sins in your conscience which are burdening your mind and spirit.
• Read the Bible, and focus on the words of Jesus in the Gospels.

These things can help retrain your mind toward God's Mercy.

Be sure and follow up with your doctor, as well as seek spiritual counseling through a priest at your local parish.

We will pray for healing of your mind, heart and spirit.

In addition to my colleague's fine words and recommendations, I want you to remember that despite the current feelings you have, God does love you very, very much. Even when we struggle with individual and family problems or personal sin, He's always there loving us.

Ask God, in prayer, to bring new people into your life who can help your current struggles.

In addition to what Bob recommended, if you can, try praying the Rosary.
