I assume you are also Catholic and haven't been practicing for a while.

  • Why not come back to the Church?

God loves you and wants you to be nourished in His House. Yes, it was wrong to go to Communion and receive our Lord's Body when you have been living another life (1 Corinthians 11:23-30) but He is eager to forgive and anxious to have you back.

I would suggest going to talk to a priest about coming back, go to Confession, and go to Communion again with a renewed Heart to really receive Jesus.

If you haven't received your sacraments of Initiation, (Baptism, the Eucharist, and Confirmation), join the RCIA program and learn about the Church and what God has for you and asks of you in your life. Have a life worth living.

If you are not a Catholic, let me invite you become one. Don't wait, just get things rolling.

Finally, stop feeling bad about the past and turn it into a future of goodness.

I would concur.

I used to run a free program that sent Catechisms to seeking Protestants and non-Christians but no longer have the financial or operational means to do this anymore.

If you wish to go deeper, consider buying a cheap copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to learn everything we believe as Catholics.
