Someone can be automatically excommunicated because of their promotion of abortion. Therefore the Church assumes it happens defacto in many cases.

Often public figures do not get public excommunications because it is assumed there is a defacto excommunication and to make a formal proclamation would only serve to provide a spectacle to which the sinister forces would use for ill effect so they may not want to make her a martyr for the abortion cause.
