Today, while doing Bible Study . . . (I am home schooled), I had to read Romans 12. It talks about using the gifts God has given you and one of the things it said was: if it is teaching, teach.

  • Is this the sign that I've prayed about?
  • How do you know if something is a sign?
  • Is this not a sign because, even if I didn't want to be a teacher, I would have read it anyway?

Wendy,

You'll know if God wants you to do this when the very assent to it brings you peace. Signs aren't always black and white, but when we feel peace and joy about something that is a good indicator.

I have asked for signs along the way when faced with big matters, but often the best thing is just spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. I did that when I had to make a decision about adopting our foster child and needed to know that God was behind it. I felt a peace that dissolved all my worries.

I don't think the reading was coincidental. If you pursue this path, watch and see if doors open or close. That will be the true test.

I would place my bets that He is leading you right where He wants you.
