Hi, guys —

My wife is Catholic and I am a member of the (CJC-LDS) Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We have been married for 9 years. This is my second marriage and her first marriage and we did not get married in a church. My wife goes to church when she is not working but is sad because she can not take part in Holy Communion since we were not married in the Church.

The pastor of the parish said that I need to get a letter from someone stating that my ex- was married before me. I did, then I needed something else which I was able to get for him but ultimately he wanted me to become Catholic.

All we want is for our marriage to be blessed so my wife can receive Holy Communion and feel good about it.

  • What can we do?

Bob replied:

Cody,

Go to the diocese you live in (where the tribunal is that deals with marriages, annulments, etc.) and make inquiries as to whether a case was started on your behalf, and if not, ask for a recommendation for another priest as your point of contact.

Peace,

Bob kirby
