I can remember my uncle talking about dreaming about the devil or demons years ago and I honestly thought it was foolishness but in the past few years I've been dreaming about that crazy stuff.
I go to church and it seems like it started after I got saved. I know we all will fight with a demon and I know the Bible talks about it like one can make 10 demon spirits flee and 2 can make 1,000 flee or something like that.
I'm 41 and, sad to say, am not knowledgeable on religion. There are 6-year-olds that know more about the Bible than I do. I'm trying to change that.
I've been taught not to mess with the devil, but it's not my fight if I'm a child of God. It's God's fight and the best thing for me to do, if I'm ever in that situation, is to tell the devil:
My God rebukes you!

That is a great attitude and response but let me give you a little more to consider for help.
There are two more allies that you can rely on that cause the devil to flee:
the Blessed Virgin Mary, and
St. Michael, the Archangel.
If you ever find yourself fearful, pray that these humble friends of God will intervene on your behalf. Satan has more hatred and ultimately fear of Mary than anyone else — perhaps in a strange way more than God Himself.
Consider that if you were Satan, the most glorious of all God's creatures, the highest form of angel, so much so that your name, Lucifer, means light-bearer.
Imagine how great your ego would be. (That thing that became his very undoing.)
As great as you may be, you still know that God made you and could incinerate you at a moment's command. That being said, it doesn't really defeat your ego because that reality is a given from the moment of your creation.
Then imagine that the weakest child of God, a mere human, a girl nonetheless, gentle and loving and meek has the full power to crush your head. (Kind of like little Bo Peep taking down Goliath.)
Which of these two realities is more damaging to your ego?
Which makes you gnash your teeth?
Maybe you will understand more about the Glory and satisfaction our God gets from empowering His children, and why the Body of Christ is so important.
Invoke Mary's help and the devil will flee — his ego is too big to hang around and he will be humiliated.
Read Genesis 3:15 [in context] to see the relevant prophecy about the child and woman (Jesus and Mary). Read the Magnificat prayer of Mary in Luke 1:46-55, and then learn the two prayers:
the Hail Mary, and
the St. Michael, the Archangel prayer.

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host —
by the Divine Power of God —
cast into Hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
