Anthony —
Sorry for the unusual delay in getting back to you; sometimes things slip through the cracks.
I argue this is wrong. I understand there may have been some question whether Nestorius really believed what was attributed to him, but it would certainly be wrong to deny that Mary is "Mother of God". Whether this would be heresy would depend on why one was denying Mary was the Mother of God.
The title "Mother of God" protects against all sorts of heresies involving the nature of Christ.
To deny it would be a big red flag.
In any case, the canons of the Council of Ephesus remain in force, whether Nestorius himself really fell under them or not.
