Hi, guys —
- Is devotion to Our Lady necessary or only optional for sanctification of the Christian?
I have met some Protestant Christians who don't venerate Her as well as other holy men and women. I have also found some Saints in Our Church who never or seldom show veneration to her (For example, the Desert Fathers).
- So, I wonder if Our Lady wishes everyone to be holy by explicitly invoking her or if there is another way that a Christian can become holy without invoking her?

Anthony,
It's certainly possible to become holy without explicitly invoking her, (if less effective). Whether or not she helps you, despite that, is another question.

Anthony,
Let me answer your question with a question:
- Is there anyway Jesus could have become Man, without the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit?
- Was she really needed?, or
- (Seeing your mother, father, and the Holy Spirit created you), Can you be a Christian without honoring and loving them: who brought you into this world?
