The First Friday is a private devotion communicated by an apparition.

It wouldn't address such questions. I wouldn't scruple about it; it's a Mass, it's on Friday, don't worry.

Thanks for the question.

Both First Friday and First Saturday are two of my favorite devotions. For that reason I:

  1. encourage everyone to practice them, if they can, and
  2. encourage Catholic parishes worldwide to have a scheduled morning Mass for each First Friday and First Saturday of the month. (I'm aware this can be difficult for some parishes as my parish does not offer a First Saturday morning Mass.)

All that said, if a funeral Mass falls on a First Friday, YES, it will satisfy the First Friday requirement.
