Hi Nma,
As my colleague Eric said in another answer:
There are no formal rules about this.
You can say whatever mystery you want on any day. It's just more appropriate to say the Sorrowful Mysteries during Lent because it is a penitential season. |
Though the Church uses the following public pattern (below),
you can say any set of Mysteries you wish, seeing
this is a private devotion and not part of any doctrine
of the faith.
On special feast days of joy, light, sadness, or glory, I
will personally substitute the Church's pattern for
whatever the set of mysteries is in accordance
with the type of feast day it is, whether it is:
- a Joyful feast
day (the Annunciation)
- a Luminous feast day (the Transfiguration)
- a Sorrowful feast day, (Palm Sunday and Good Friday) or
- Glorious feast day, (Easter and the Ascension) or . . .
even better, I'll pray an extra set of mysteries for the (joyful, luminous, sorrowful, or glorious) spirit of that feast
day.
The Catholic Church uses the following pattern below. Each link to each group of Rosary mysteries (below) are redirected to my Holy Rosary page for Newbies.
Hope this answers your question.
Mike
