Roland Buller wrote:

Hi, guys —

I've been a Catholic all my life. I was taught that during Lent you were to say the Sorrowful mysteries when saying the Rosary.

  • Is this still true?

My parish Deacon said we should say the normal mysteries for that day.

  • So, what are the correct mysteries to pray the Rosary during Lent?

Roland

  { What mysteries of the Rosary are said during Lent; I was taught,the Sorrowful mysteries but my Deacon says otherwise? }

Eric replied:

Roland,

There are no formal rules about this.

You can say whatever mystery you want on any day. It's just more appropriate to say the Sorrowful Mysteries during Lent because it is a penitential season.

Eric

Dear Roland,

I searched the AskACatholic.com database for you and found this posting that should answer your question:

Don't let any disagreement between you and your parish Deacon turn into a bigger issue. It shouldn't be.

The key is to pray and meditate on all the mysteries of the Rosary, which remind us of the great love Jesus, Mary, and Joseph showed us, as an example to follow.

Mike
