Hi, guys —

I have some questions about sins. Reading over my examination of conscience, there is a question that says:

Have I ever spoken badly about my parents to others?

My answer to that question is yes, but I don't know what sin that is.

I have also been having some trouble looking at pornographic pictures/movies on the web.

  • What sin is that?

  { What sins are these and how do I get rid of my addiction to internet pornography? }

Mike replied:

Hi, Anonymous —

Thanks for the question.

These sins are against the fourth and sixth commandments.

Speaking badly about my parents goes against the fourth commandment:

Honor your father and your mother.

Looking at pornographic pictures/movies on the web goes against the sixth commandment:

You shall not commit adultery, under Offenses against chastity.

Our American culture is saturated with sexual overtones.  I gave the following advice to another questioner who had troubles with internet pornography here:

I hope it helps,

Mike
