Maria,
It depends on the circumstances.
- Did you deliberately avoid Mass?
- Were there circumstances beyond your control?
We abstain from receiving Communion when we know we sinned deliberately, not for something we did unintentionally.
So if you missed Mass because you didn't feel like it, then that is a more serious sin, but missing for other circumstances that you couldn't avoid is not serious. You need to confess the first one before receiving again but in the latter circumstance you can go and receive Communion, though I would still bring the circumstance up during your next Confession anyway.
While some people chose to take a legalistic approach to our Sunday obligation, after all, it is our duty and commandment to worship on the Sabbath, you are better served thinking of it as an act of love, to show Our Lord your true devotion to Him.
Nothing that you can control should prevent you from being with the one you love, for He loved you first.
Peace,
Bob Kirby
